THE PLAYS
Good movers: CSH; GRMN; CX
Weekend play results:
GLG: Faded to the 50 day EMA. Interesting to see if it holds up here
HNR: Faded back after the break higher, but on low volume and holding the 10 day EMA. Still solid.
MED: Hanging in there on the test with a doji just below the 18 day EMA
MHS: Rallied but no volume yet and gave most of it back. Still solid.

Play Date: 07/17/2006
BOT (CBOT Holdings--$111.00; -1.00; optionable)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bot.html
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. BOT is testing the 50 day EMA (109.32) on lower, below average volume, putting the finishing touches on the handle to its 17 week base, the second of its short lifespan (a new issue in October 2005). Excellent money flow surging higher ahead of price even as it makes this test. Just a nice pattern, showing a doji over the 50 day Monday. Ready to make the bounce. Just waiting for the trigger. A move to the target lands us a 90%ish gain.

CHIC (Charlotte Russe Hldg.--$23.14; +1.32; optionable): Apparel stores
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/chic.html
After Hours: $23.09
STATUS: Test breakout. CHIC is setting up for a new 4 year high, not bad for a 5.5 year old stock. Broke sharply higher to end June from a 7 week cup with handle base. Strong break on strong volume but in the selling this month it has come back and tested the move, filling the late June gap, holding above the 50 day EMA (21.56) as it did. Nice action and then a strong, above average volume move Monday, coming off the 50 day and resuming the break higher. Solid action with buyers moving in on this bounce. Looking to move in as well as it continues higher on continued decent trade.

HELX (Helix Technology--$38.27; -0.53; optionable): Oil and gas service company
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/helx.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. HELX tried the breakout in early May from a 14 week cup with handle, but it made the move just as the commodities rolled over. It fell into the current 10 week base instead. The past two weeks it has formed the handle, fading back to the 10 day EMA (38.40) on mostly lower volume. Solid stock with top earnings and sales growth. Like how it managed to hold up pretty darn well on a day the energy stocks were under pressure. May take a day or two more, but has set up well for the next break higher. It shows a lot of energy when it starts higher.

HURN (Huron Consulting Group--$32.43; +0.26; no options): Financial consulting, economic analyses, expert support
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/hurn.html
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. HURN has faded back to the 50 day EMA (32.13) on low volume holding that level the past 5 sessions as it formed the handle to its 10 week cup with handle base. Outstanding 4 to 1 accumulation in the base (4 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume) shows all buying as it sets up for the breakout to a new all-time high. Excellent money flow is complementing the strong accumulation. Solid volume surge Monday as it moved up off the 50 day. Looking ready. Just needs to clear the 10 and 18 day EMA at 32.70 on more strong trade.

AAPL, AKAM, CCJ, CELG, FLR, GME, MGPI, MRVL, NVDA, SGMS, WM
AKAM: Tried to make the break over the 50 day EMA, but could not hold the move as volume faded below average.
CCJ: Slipped through the 50 day EMA on low trade. Trying to hang on.
CELG: Tapped the 50 day SMA on the low and rebounded flat. Maybe the shakeout it needed, but likely to base a bit here.
GME: Turned down from the 200 day SMA (39.30). Low volume after that strong volume Thursday and Friday as it rallied back up to the 200 day.
WM: Bounced off the 50 day EMA (45.19), just about completing the right shoulder to its 10 week reverse head and shoulders base. A move over 46.50 is the buy point if volume is there.
