Play Date: 11/01/2006
AMGN (Amgen--$75.28; -0.63; optionable): Biotechnology
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/amgn.html
STATUS: Cup. AMGN is testing the 10 day EMA (75.05) and the September/November 2005 trendline after a nice gap higher last week. It is in a 12 month cup base, working its way up the right side of the pattern. Nice test of the 18 day EMA on the Wednesday low and a rebound to close on the trendline. Showing lots of strength and looking to move in as it rebounds through 76 and continues higher back toward the old high near 88.

ALXN (Alexion Pharmaceuticals--$38.57; +1.21; optionable): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/alxn.html
EARNINGS: Announced 11-1-06 before the open
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Solid volume Wednesday as ALXN bumped up against the breakout of its 8 month base. Looking for a six-year high on the breakout it just couldn't quite make on Wednesday. Solid money flow is leading the way higher.

NUVA (Nuvasive--$23.01; -0.50; optionable): Medical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nuva.html
EARNINGS: Announced 10-25-06
STATUS: Test breakout. Nice test of the 18 day EMA (22.80) the past two weeks after the solid breakout from the 8 month cup with handle base. The move took NUVA to a new high and now it is testing, setting up for a continued run.
Volume: 250.39K Avg Volume: 314.117K
BUY POINT: $23.85 Volume=375K Target=$28.45 Stop=$22.65

VCLK (Valueclick--$18.86; +0.06; optionable): Online marketing services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/v/vclk.html
EARNINGS: Reported after the close Wednesday
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. VCLK broke sharply higher last Thursday on strong volume, moving out of a 10 month base. It came back to test ahead of earnings, showing a high volume doji Wednesday that tapped at the 18 day EMA on the low and rebounded. After hours it reported solid earnings and was up, fading some late into the session. Looking for those earnings to carry it higher Thursday. It looks as if may open below our buy point and then build into it. Looking solid.

POSITION: QCS CD - Mar. $20c (51 delta) &/or Stock

AKAM: Still testing the 50 day EMA on low volume.

MA: That was a gap higher.
MRVL: Turned down from the 90 day, the point that stalled it in September.
