THE PLAYS

Good movers: BTJ; CYTC; KNOL; RYI; UCTT; WFR; STEC

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 03/08/2007
BCSI (Blue Coat Systems--$32.17; +0.58; optionable): Web communications controls
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bcsi.html
EARNINGS: 3-8-07
STATUS: Cup w/handle. BCSI was a favorite of ours back in early 2004 and again in 2005. After that last run it collapsed and spent the past 16 months forming the current base. The past three weeks it has eased back to near support at the 18 day EMA (31.34), holding support and setting up the breakout. After hours it reported strong earnings and traded up to 34.20 after hours. The breakout point is at 33.11 and the gap will put it over that. Wit the pattern it has formed that doesn't bother us. It has a lot of room to run upside. We will let it open and make its first test; when it holds and rebounds we will start some positions. Then we will add on the first test following the breakout. Looks as if an old leader is back.
Volume: 401.412K Avg Volume: 242.838K
BUY POINT: $33.11 Volume=400K Target=$39.75 Stop=$31.11
POSITION: IYU GF - July $30c (67 delta) &/or Stock

Downside:

Play Date: 03/08/2007
ACAS (American Capital--$43.26; +0.21; optionable): Debt fund
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/acas.html
EARNINGS: Announced 2-13-07
STATUS: Put. ACAS enjoyed a solid, steady climb up the 18 day EMA from August to early February when it hit a new high but volume was not there. It gapped lower on strong trade, rebounded, then collapsed below the 50 day EMA (45.63). It bounced off the 200 day SMA (40.54) after gapping to that level Monday. It made it to the 10 day EMA (43.91) on the Thursday high but rolled back over. Looking for it to follow its money flow (that is in the toilet) and give us a nice ride lower. A move to the target lands a 44%ish gain.
Volume: 1.932M Avg Volume: 1.313M
BUY POINT: $43.09 Volume=1.6M Target=$41.00 Stop=$43.95
POSITION: DQS PI - Apr. $45p (-58 delta)

Play Date: 03/08/2007
SBUX (Starbucks--$30.70; +0.23; optionable): High priced caffeine
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/sbux.html
EARNINGS: 5-3-07
STATUS: Put. Going to the well, or should we say coffee pot, once more. SBUX has made us some strong gain on its declining earnings price decline. It is rebounding from that last sell off, rallying to the 18 day EMA (31.51) on the Thursday high but then rolling over and closing below the 10 day EMA. It has failed again at near support and we are looking for another move down that we can use to make us some money. A run to the target lands us a 46%ish gain.
Volume: 15.043M Avg Volume: 8.422M
BUY POINT: $30.57 Volume=10M Target=$29.05 Stop=$31.04
POSITION: SQX PZ - Apr. $32.50p (-70 delta)
