New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 03/22/2007
FRED (Freds Inc.--$15.26; +0.19; optionable): Discount variety stores
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fred.html
EARNINGS: Announced 3-22-07 before the open
STATUS: Cup w/handle. FRED is breakout out from 7 month base at the bottom of the 3 year pullback as the discount retailers start to improve. Strong money flow is leading higher and FRED has shown many strong volume spikes on the upside, and this breakout was on another one. Looking to move in as FRED continues this breakout.
Volume: 1.23M Avg Volume: 400.823K
BUY POINT: $15.39 Volume=450K Target=$18.35 Stop=$14.45

Play Date: 03/22/2007
LHCG (LHC Group--$30.21; +1.11; optionable): Home health care
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/l/lhcg.html
EARNINGS: Announced 2-28-07
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. Looking at this one again as LHCG found support at the 50 day EMA (28.11) this week and blasted higher Thursday on strong volume. Heading for a new all-time high and really running as it does. Like how it filled the gap from the earnings in late February and is surging right back up.
Volume: 516.554K Avg Volume: 167.88K
BUY POINT: $30.38 Volume=225K Target=$34.95 Stop=$28.65
POSITION: HQC FF - Jun $30c (59 delta) &/or Stock

MA (MasterCard--$109.57; -1.13; optionable): Credit services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/ma.html
EARNINGS: 5-2-07
STATUS: Cup. Had a hard time with earnings in early February, but set up the current 7 week base over the 90 day MA and started higher Wednesday on strong, above average volume. Thursday it tested back some on very low volume. May form a handle here before moving up, but want to be ready to move in as it breaks higher once more.
Volume: 1.325M Avg Volume: 3.21M
BUY POINT: $110.78 Volume=4.5M Target=$121.00 Stop=$106.74
POSITION: MA GB - July $110c (56 delta)

Downside

Play Date: 03/22/2007
SYY (Sysco--$32.66; -0.22; optionable): Wholesale food
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/syy.html
EARNINGS: 1-29-07
STATUS: Put. Broad top in December and January and then started trending lower with a big drop in late February. It has recovered off of that drop, making it back to the 200 day SMA (32.94) on low volume. Thursday volume surged as SYY showed a big doji below that resistance. Looking for it to turn down from here and continue the downtrend. A move to the target with the 32.50 options lands a 55%ish gain; the $35 options a 40%ish gain.
Volume: 4.337M Avg Volume: 2.583M
BUY POINT: $32.46 Volume=3M Target=$31.00 Stop=$33.05
POSITION: SYY QZ - May $32.50p (-39 delta) or SYY QG - May $35p (-79 delta)
