THE PLAYS

New Plays:
Play Date: 05/02/2007
CNX (Consol Energy--$42.89; +0.86; optionable): Multi-fuel energy for electric power generation industry
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cnx.html
EARNINGS: 4-26-07
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. CNX is working on the handle to a big 10 month base, consolidating the prior run and some post-split blues. It has taken its time but it is a nice base. Money flow is rallying sharply higher ahead of price. May take a bit longer to complete the handle where the final sellers are shaken out, but like the high volume doji on the 18 day EMA Tuesday. Just waiting for the break.

IPAR (Inter Parfums--$23.05; -0.05; no options): Fragrances and fragrance-related products. Sweet.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/ipar.html
EARNINGS: Announced 3-12-07
STATUS: Breakout test. You never know what is going to turn investors on. Seen those commercials for TAG body spray turning adolescent females into wild women, so maybe there is an IPAR connection to investors. IPAR exploded higher on 4-20 when it reported a 20% increase in sales. That move blasted it from a 5.5 month cup with handle base, taking it to 23.50 on the high. It has tested the past two weeks, tapping at and bouncing off of the 10 day EMA on the intraday lows. Strong volume the past three sessions as it holds above this near support. It is locked and loaded, ready for the next break higher. I think I am getting aroused.

ROSE (Rosetta Resources--$21.95; +0.40; optionable): Independent oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rose.html
EARNINGS: 3-16-07
STATUS: Breakout test. Taking another look at ROSE as it continues its test, but showing some strong, above average volume as it comes back up off the bottom of the test. The move is testing the early April breakout from a year long cup with handle base. A new issue in February 2006, and this is ROSE's first and only base. Looking for a continued move higher after this test. Some volume, some price movement and this will come up smelling like a rose.
Volume: 504.306K Avg Volume: 284.368K
BUY POINT: $22.32 Volume=380K Target=$26.32 Stop=$21.69
POSITION: RSE JX - Oct. $22.50c (50 delta) &/or Stock

SPR (Spirit Aerosystems--$32.20; +0.37; optionable): Aero-structures (fuselage, propulsion, wing systems)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/spr.html
EARNINGS: 4-26-07
STATUS: Flat base. SPR was a new issue last November. It surged to 34 then formed a double bottom base through mid-March. It then started the current 6 week lateral move, kind of a handle to the base. Money flow is surging higher ahead of price as it works laterally. Big upside volume spike last week and another solid volume bump Wednesday. Really showing the spirit of the market rally.
Volume: 914.8K Avg Volume: 765.058K
BUY POINT: $32.88 Volume=1.1M Target=$37.95 Stop=$31.22
POSITION: SPR GF - July $30c (66 delta, 87 OI) &/or Stock

AAPL, AKAM, CELG, DRIV, GME, GOOG, ISE, MA, PCLN, NVDA, NYX
CELG: Nice bounce to a new high ahead of earnings before the open Thursday. We will see.
DRIV: Volume jumped as DRIV continued its test of the strong move after earnings. Still a good test.
GOOG: Gurgling some as it faded below the 90 and 50 day EMA. Not looking terribly appealing here.
MA: Big earnings gapped it higher on strong trade. Took some gain on this move, letting some positions hang.
NVDA: Fading back toward the 10 day EMA as NVDA tests the break above the 90 day MA.
Good Investing!
