THE PLAYS
Good movers: ROSE; SAF
New Plays:
Play Date: 05/10/2007
GB (Greatbatch--$29.41; +0.24; optionable): Medical appliances, equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gb.html
EARNINGS: Announced 4-26-07
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Sweet 14 week base has formed right at the December 2006 high. It tried to make the break on the earnings announcement, and for a time it did it. Could not on and faded, and started forming this handle, a nice lateral fade back to near support at the 10 day EMA (29.04). This is where it sets the break higher. Low volume until Wednesday and Thursday when it jumped back above average as GB held steady. We call that crouching for the break higher. Nice pattern and it just has to show the breakout on strong volume to show us the buy point.
Volume: 331.3K Avg Volume: 249.161K
BUY POINT: $30.05 Volume=375K Target=$34.95 Stop=$28.65
POSITION: GB HF - Aug. $30c (48 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 05/10/2007
HURN (Huron Consulting Group--$65.31; -1.29; no options): Business management services (financial and operational consulting)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/hurn.html
EARNINGS: Announced 5-3-07
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. HURN gapped higher on its earnings, clearing the 'hump' in its 7 week pattern that formed over the 50 day EMA (62.51). This base consolidates a strong December to March run, setting up the next move. Very strong stock that is growing leaps and bounds. Strong money flow holding tough even as it makes this test. Volume was low on the test and we are looking for it to jump back up on strong trade as it resumes the bounce and shows us the new breakout.
Volume: 109.088K Avg Volume: 235.787K
BUY POINT: $66.65 Volume=350K Target=$76.65 Stop=$64.11
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

LYO (Lyondell Chemical--$33.07; -0.50; optionable): Chemicals
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/l/lyo.html
EARNINGS: 4-26-07
STATUS: Breakout test. Nice low volume test the past week as LYO sold back to near support, tapping at the 18 day EMA on the low and rebounding to close over the 10 day EMA. It exploded higher last week, moving off the 50 day EMA and out of its 12 week cup base. Nice test of a nice break higher. Looking for volume to rebound as LYO bounces back up off of this test.
Volume: 2.294M Avg Volume: 2.775M
BUY POINT: $33.88 Volume=3M Target=$39.95 Stop=$32.48
POSITION: LYO IF - Sept. $30c (52 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 05/10/2007
NVEC (NVE Corp.--$34.39; -1.27; no options): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nvec.html
EARNINGS: Announced 5-2-07
STATUS: Cup w/handle. NVEC gapped higher on earnings, forming the right side of its 6 month cup base that formed roughly using the 200 day SMA as support. After that blast higher it has worked laterally the past three sessions on lower volume, working on the handle. Really like how it is holding its gains even in the market selling on Thursday. Excellent money flow is holding up very well. NVEC made us some good money in 2006, and this base is setting it up to make us more money. High volume on the break higher is what we want to see.
Volume: 215.206K Avg Volume: 258.263K
BUY POINT: $36.05 Volume=400K Target=$43.45 Stop=$33.98
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
AAPL, AKAM, CELG, DRIV, GME, GOOG, ISE, MA, PCLN, NVDA, NYX
AAPL: Moved up a bit more during a pretty contentious shareholder meeting. Likely going to wait a bit to announce the split, but it is coming.
DRIV: Making a low volume test of the 50 day EMA.
GOOG: Fading through the 50 day SMA on the close but volume was low so no dumping.
NVDA: Announced earnings after hours and was up over 34. Very solid results. If this had been a couple of weeks ago NVDA would be up 5 sticks on the news.
