ATW (Atwood Oceanics--$70.32; +1.70; optionable): Oil and gas drilling
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/atw.html
EARNINGS: 8-7-07
STATUS: Ascending base. ATW is making the breakout move from a 7 week base formed using the 50 day EMA (64.69) as support. This base followed the March breakout from a 12 month cup with handle pattern that rallied on through early May. It has set up for the next move after this pattern, and we are looking to move in as ATW heads out into the new high waters once more.

TTI (Tetra Technologies--$28.68; +0.48; optionable): Oil and gas service company
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tti.html
EARNINGS: 8-3-07
STATUS: Double bottom. TTI has formed a short 5 week double bottom at the tail end of a large 14 month cup base. This last little base within a base is setting up the next breakout move. Indeed, TTI surged higher last Thursday on very strong volume then worked laterally the past two sessions, preparing for the next move. Very solid and looking for volume to bounce up a bit as TTI breaks higher. Nice.

http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/esv.html
EARNINGS: 7-24-07
STATUS: Ascending base. ESV is working toward the breakout from a 5 week base, bumping up against the high Monday, looking for the breakout move. This consolidates the late April break higher from a much larger 12 month base. Excellent action. Ready to move in as ESV makes the break higher.

SMSC (Standard Microsystems--$36.32; +1.98; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/smsc.html
EARNINGS: Announced 6-27-07
STATUS: Test breakout. SMSC surged out of a nicely formed 10 week reverse head and shoulders in late June on the earnings announcement, blasting higher on strong, strong volume. It made a quick test, and then was back on the move higher on a return to higher volume. Excellent (seem to be saying that quite a bit tonight). Ready to move in as SMSC continues the move higher.
