Play Date: 07/07/2007
COH (Coach--$49.37; +1.47; optionable): Handbags, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/coh.html
EARNINGS: 7-24-07
STATUS: Double bottom. Volume jumped above average Thursday and Friday as COH moved off of the second bottom of what is shaping up to be an 11-week base. After a strong August to April move it needed a good base to set up for the next move higher. Nice reload and we like how volume moved in as it started off the lows to end the week; solid volume in some low volume sessions. We are looking to move in ahead of the move over the 'hump' at 52, but we like the life coming off this second bottom. As if completes the base and then breaks out again down the road we will look to move in then as well.

CXG (CNX Gas Corp.--$30.80; +0.55; optionable): Oil and gas drilling/exploration
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cxg.html
EARNINGS: 7-25-07
STATUS: Breakout test. CXG Broke higher in mid-June from a big 13 month cup with handle base. It surged to 33 and then tested, falling to the 50 day EMA (29.42) the last half of June when energy suffered some weakness. It held and bounced right back up, holding the breakout. It faded to test the 18 day EMA last week and then bounced Friday on a surge of strong, above average volume. Money flow is running higher ahead of price and after this June hiccup in the energy sector in general, CXG is ready to go ahead on with the breakout move. Looking to move in as CXG continues this Friday bounce on some continued solid volume.

FCSX (FCStone Group--$57.82; -0.48; optionable): Brokerage (integrated commodity risk management)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fcsx.html
EARNINGS: 7-12-07
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. FCSX was a new issue in March. It rallied then formed its first base from mid-April to early June, an eight week pattern that broke out and rallied to just over 60 mid-month. It has come back to test that breakout, fading to near support at the 18 day EMA (55.26) and working laterally for the past two weeks. Volume started to tick back up to end last week, and it looks as if FCSX is now primed to continue the run higher. A new issue, but its fundamentals growth rates are excellent and it looks to be in great position to make its next strong move with earnings out on Thursday.
Volume: 280.312K Avg Volume: 424.927K
BUY POINT: $59.25 Volume=600K Target=$69.95 Stop=$55.15
POSITION: QGD JL - Oct. $60c (52 delta, low OI) &/or Stock

Play Date: 07/07/2007
HOKU (Hoku Scientific--$11.13; +0.42; optionable): Clean energy materials and components
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/hoku.html
STATUS: Breakout test. HOKU is testing a bit surge starting mid-June when it gapped higher out of a 5 month flat base on word of a big contract. It surged over 12 on the move and has spent the past two weeks finally testing, coming back to the 10 day EMA (10.25) last week. It bounced Tuesday and then really tried to run Friday with a big volume surge and a run up almost to the prior high. It could not hold all of the move, but it has the momentum and we are looking to move in as HOKU resumes the breakout run.
Volume: 10.118M Avg Volume: 2.699M

VDSI (Vasco Data Security--$24.54; +1.10; optionable): Security software and hardware to protect corporate information
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/v/vdsi.html
EARNINGS: 7-26-07
STATUS: Ascending base. VDSI continues its winning ways, breaking higher Friday on strong volume (in a weak volume market), pushing through the top of a 10 week base that formed making a couple of higher lows at the 50 day EMA (21.61) with a constant top at 23.50ish. This stock is in the same sector as BCSI and is arguably the leader in the sector. Looking to move in as VDSI continues the break higher.
Volume: 985.867K Avg Volume: 657.024K
BUY POINT: $24.88 Volume=670K Target=$29.95 Stop=$23.14

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. AAPL, AKAM, CELG, EDU, GME, GOOG, MA, PCLN, NVDA, VLO

MA: Has settled back to the 18 day EMA, tapping that level Friday and rebounding. Low volume persists as MA works laterally over near support in an up and down range. Looks good to hold here and make the move back up.

VLO: Recovered from that fade to the 50 day EMA the last week of June. It rebounded last week on low trade, closing the week below the early June high. Still looks to have some more work to do in the consolidation before it is ready to make the next move higher.
