Upside:

Play Date: 07/12/2007
ATHR (Atheros Communications--$32.30; +0.62; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/athr.html
EARNINGS: 7-23-07
STATUS: Ascending base. Volume has jumped up to average the past two sessions as ATHR bumps at the breakout of a short 5 week consolidation as it rests before breaking to a new high. It broke out from a 13 month cup with handle base in late April and rallied to 32 where it formed the current base. Just going to let it show us the breakout move on some more volume. A leader in its sector with strong fundamentals growth to go with its pattern.
Volume: 1.309M Avg Volume: 1.461M
BUY POINT: $32.68 Volume=2M Target=$37.75 Stop=$31.21
POSITION: QRA LF - Dec. $30c (67 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 07/12/2007
HAL (Halliburton--$34.99; +0.57; optionable): Oil and gas service company
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/hal.html
EARNINGS: 7-23-07
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Kind of a stretched out base, a 16 month pattern that has spent the past 8 weeks testing back to form the handle, holding at the 50 day EMA (34.63) the past two weeks. Volume has started to swell the past week, and we are looking for HAL to make the break higher from this key support at the 50 day EMA. Like the volume action; you want to see volume swell at this key support as that indicates the breakout is approaching.
Volume: 18.933M Avg Volume: 18.413M
BUY POINT: $35.42 Volume=22M Target=$40.95 Stop=$34.04
POSITION: HAL JG - Oct. $35c (50 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 07/12/2007
MON (Monsanto--$68.45; +2.49; optionable): Ag chemicals, hybrids, Round-Up, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mon.html
EARNINGS: Announced 6-28-07
STATUS: Flying plateau. Strong volume Thursday as MON bounced up off of its 18 day EMA that marks the bottom of its 4 week lateral range between 66 and 68. This lateral move consolidated the prior strong move that included a gap up in June as MON guided higher. Looking to step in as it continues the break higher.
Volume: 4.726M Avg Volume: 3.271M
BUY POINT: $68.69 Volume=3.5M Target=$78.95 Stop=$65.89
POSITION: MON JM - Oct. $65c (69 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 07/12/2007
SCHW (Charles Schwab--$22.48; +0.77; optionable): Investment brokerage
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/schw.html
EARNINGS: 7-18-07
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Big volume the past week. It saved the biggest session of trade for Thursday when it broke higher over the right shoulder of a 6 week pattern. Used the 50 day EMA (21) on the low (the 'head') as support and vaulted higher from there. Strong move Thursday and looking to move in as it continues higher. We will then look for a test of this move to complete the position.
Volume: 23.851M Avg Volume: 10.076M
BUY POINT: $22.65 Volume=11M Target=$26.95 Stop=$21.55
POSITION: SHQ LX - Dec. $22.50c (53 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, AKAM, CELG, EDU, GME, GOOG, MA, PCLN, NVDA, VLO

AKAM: Clearing the 200 day SMA on lower, average volume. Now we look for the test and then move in on the bounce.

GME: Tested the 10 day EMA on the low and rebounded positive. This could be the shakeout that sets the next surge.

MA: That is what we were waiting for.

PCLN: Nice doji over the 10 and 18 day EMA.
