THE PLAYS

Upside:

Play Date: 09/04/2007
EDU (New Oriental Education & Tech--$54.76; +1.81; optionable): Chinese education and training
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/edu.html
EARNINGS: 7-24-07
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Volume was up Tuesday as EDU started to break higher from the handle to its 8 week base that formed after EDU put in a strong run from its IPO back in September 2006. Nice base to consolidate the move and set up the next run higher. EDU enjoys some top notch earnings growth rates to go along with the pattern. Looking for a continued break higher on a continued rise in volume to give us the next entry point.
Volume: 295.2K Avg Volume: 352.486K
BUY POINT: $55.45 Volume=529K Target=$63.95 Stop=$52.88
POSITION: EDU AK - Jan. $55c (51 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 09/04/2007
FLIR (Flir Systems--$49.10; -0.14; optionable): Scientific and technical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/flir.html
EARNINGS: 7-25-07
STATUS: Ascending base. FLIR made us some money in its earlier 2007 run, and during some choppy times during the market ups and downs in July and August, it managed to hold together. It formed the current 8 week base, using the 50 day EMA (47.25) to make higher lows. It bounced off that level last week and is taking a breather at the 10 day EMA before breaking higher once more. Money flow is running higher ahead of price as it rests, and it is ready to head higher and follow the money.
Volume: 647.176K Avg Volume: 849.607K
BUY POINT: $50.15 Volume=1.2M Target=$59.95 Stop=$47.65
POSITION: FFQ AJ - Jan. $50c (48 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 09/04/2007
GTI (Graftech Intl.--$17.91; +1.12; optionable): Industrial electrical equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gti.html
EARNINGS: 11-1-07
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Volume jumped above average Tuesday as GTI broke higher from its 7 week base that formed to consolidate the strong early 2007 run. Very nice break higher and we are looking to move into this strong stock as it continues the breakout move. Top earnings growth rates to go with its technical pattern.
Volume: 2.08M Avg Volume: 1.837M
BUY POINT: $18.11 Volume=2M Target=$21.75 Stop=$16.84
POSITION: GTI AW - Jan. $17.50c (56 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 09/04/2007
NE (Noble Corp.--$50.32; +1.26; optionable): Oil and gas drilling
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/ne.html
EARNINGS: 7-18-07
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Making a nice test at the 50 day EMA (48.84) as NE bases to consolidate the strong April through July run. Looking very nice here at the 50 day as it digests the split from last week. That sometimes takes a bit to work through, but really like the pattern NE has put together.
Volume: 4.379M Avg Volume: 6.161M
BUY POINT: $50.69 Volume=6M Target=$58.45 Stop=$48.65
POSITION: NE AJ - Jan. $50c (60 delta) &/or Stock
