THE PLAYS

Upside:

Play Date: 10/09/2007
BCON (Beacon Power--$2.06; +0.06; no options): Devices for storing energy for the renewable energy industry
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bcon.html
EARNINGS: 11-7-07
STATUS: Cup w/handle. This comes from one of our subscribers and we have to say it came up our volume and pattern screens. It has indeed shown some strong volume spikes the past three weeks on the upside sessions, indicating accumulation in its 12 week base. This is its first base off run off the lows in a 2 year base. Strong money flow is leading higher and BCON looks as if it is going to make the break higher and give us a nice run.

Play Date: 10/09/2007
BCSI (Blue Coat Systems--$43.09; +2.89; optionable): Network security hardware and software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bcsi.html
EARNINGS: 11-21-07
STATUS: Ascending base. Kept an eye on BCSI as it worked through its split, and on Tuesday volume jumped higher as the stock jumped off near support at the 18 day EMA. It got a bit dicey on the actual split, then turned right back up and now it is ready to make the move out of its 7 week base. This short base formed right on top of a much larger 3.5 month base. It broke out of that base with that huge move in August that made us a sack full of money and this consolidation is setting up the next big run. Still a buy as it continues higher from here.
Volume: 2.615M Avg Volume: 1.91M

POSITION: IHU AH - Jan. $40c (62 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 10/09/2007
BTJ (Bolt Technology--$42.70; +0.07; no options): Oil & gas services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/btj.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. One of the early leaders in the sector, BJT bolted higher in the first part of the year, rallying up through July. Needed a rest after that and fell into a deep base, the current 14 week pattern. It bounced sharply and on strong volume off the late September low, rallying on strong volume this month. The past three sessions it has slid laterally on low volume, moving above the 90 day SMA (41.93). May take a few more sessions to complete the handle, but it has shown a lot of strong volume on this move and we want to be ready as it makes the break higher on stronger volume.

Play Date: 10/09/2007
CSUN (China Sunergy--$12.16; +2.08; optionable): Chinese solar cells
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/csun.html
EARNINGS: Late November
STATUS: A new issue in May 2007, CSUN came out at the wrong time. It faded since its IPO, but in doing so it has weeded out the chaff and set up its first base. It broke sharply higher the last week of September and volume has remained solid through a somewhat choppy first two weeks of October. It has tested near support, however, on some lower volume, and it surged higher Tuesday on great trade. Looking to move in as it continues the break higher.
Volume: 9.095M Avg Volume: 1.496M
BUY POINT: $12.42 Volume=2.4M Target=$14.95 Stop=$11.55
POSITION: FTU CV - Mar. $12.50c (50 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 10/09/2007
CTRP (Ctrip.com International--$52.28; +0.20; optionable): Chinese travel services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/ctrp.html
EARNINGS: First week of November
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. CTRP broke out in mid-September, moving out of a 10 week double bottom with handle base. It rallied and made us some excellent money. It is making a deeper test to start the new quarter, coming back to the 18 day EMA (50.14) or thereabouts this week. It has held that level and we are going to be ready for a rebound on some stronger volume. When we see that we are going to move in and try to catch another run.
Volume: 268.33K Avg Volume: 799.311K
BUY POINT: $52.65 Volume=900K Target=$62.95 Stop=$50.11
POSITION: QCT CX - Marc. $52.50c (59 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. AAPL, AKAM, CELG, EDU, GME, GOOG, MA, PCLN, NVDA, VLO

AAPL: Gapped higher and reversed to close flat on a jump in volume. Looks a bit tired after such a strong run, but this far it has fought off each selling attempt.

EDU: Bounced back from the Monday higher volume selling. An improvement but still want to see if it can overcome that distribution.

GOOG: Doji after gapping higher. Strong volume. Looks like it needs to come back some.

MA: Still working on the nice handle.

VLO: Another strong move on lower but still strong, above average volume.
