Begin Part 4 of 4

WATCHLISTS:

PRE-ANNOUNCEMENTS WATCHLIST: AROW, BMS, BRL, CTAS, DRI, IFIN, LSTR, MRBK, and STU.

BER ($54.50; -1.55): Researching a new announcement date. Made a big move Wednesday, but volume was not there and BER immediately reversed course today. A bit erratic now, so we will see if it can settle down.

EXPD ($54.52; -0.97): Made it back over the 200 day MVA (54.95) Wednesday, but reversed today, dropping from the 50 day (55.92) and falling. Volume was weak, so we will look for the drop to pick up steam. We can look at new put positions on a drop back through 54 on increased selling volume. Targeting 48 with May $60 puts to buy (URP QL).

GTK ($53.34; -0.08): Working on a date. Not that strong a breakout, and now on higher volume GTK showed a doji. From this candlestick, watching for a drop back toward the prior highs (51.50, near the short-term MVA's).

DRS ($40.00; +0.48): Tried a move up today, hitting 41 but pulling back to close, with volume strong (268,500; average 245,500). With the doij pattern, we will see if DRS dips back lower in its recent range, at 38 (50 day at 37.27).

XL ($95.26; -0.44): Working on an announcement date, but are looking at a board meeting the first week in April. Very erratic at this point, dipping back today after reaching up to 97.30 intraday but pulling back to close. We will see if it can hold up on a move back, with the short-term MVA's at 93-94.

PRE SPLITS WATCHLIST:

DF ($71.67; -0.22): Splits 2:1 effective 4-25-02. Has made a strong surge, but is stalling a bit at its high (reached to a new one Wednesday at 73). Still looks like it could be forming a handle. After resting a bit and holding the 71 range, a move to a new high, with stock and/or April or June $70 calls to buy (DF FN).

NJR ($45.59; -0.36): Splits 3:2 effective March 4. The bounce from the 200 day petered out, dropping back today. We will see if the stock will hold the 50 day (45.67) and set up again.

GILD ($70.46; +1.05): Splits 2:1 effective March 8. Has tried moves the last two sessions, but each time pulled back from the 71.50 level. We will see if GILD can hold over its short-term down trendline, at 69, to set up a move. From here we will see if it can move over 72, stock and/or April $65 calls to buy (GDQ EM).

WLP ($121.62; +0.52): Announced a 2:1 split, effective March 15. Gapped below the 50 day (122.75) Wednesday, and today it showed its second consecutive doji pattern under that level. We will see if it can bounce back to hold the 50 day.

WERN ($23.68; -1.66): Splits 4:3 on or about March 15. Has struggled under the 50 day, and fell back today. The 200 day is below at 22.41.

CONTINUING CANDIDATES WATCHLIST: When splits are not announced, we will keep the best split prospects on the report rather than continue to carry all of them in case there is a an unexpected announcement. We will continue to monitor the stocks that are trimmed and add them again when we ascertain a revised split announcement date. These include BBBY, EDS, GOSHA, JCI, LLL, PII, STJ, TGIC and THQI.

APPB ($36.08; +0.41): Was not ready to drop again and give a new put play, instead running hard through the 50 day (34.67), and continuing up today, triggering a stop advisory on any remaining put positions.

AZO ($66.36; -0.64): Retreated on earnings, and today closed back below the 50 day MVA (66.69). Still in the range of its former lateral consolidation, and we will see if ti can hold the lows in the 63 range.

BBY ($67.40; +1.70): After hitting the put buy point and dropping, BBY tested back up today, tapping its 10 day MVA at its high of 69.15 and retreating. Still riding positions, and we will see if it can continue down toward the target of 63.

FLIR ($54.53; -1.83): After the great move on the breakout test, FLIR pulled back on strong volume (861,800; average 425,000), stopping short of the target of 58. With that strong volume, FLIR could be headed back to test the 10 day, at 52.

GNSS ($23.49; -17.51): Remarkable drop, and for existing put positions, we can just add to what was already a great play.

INVN ($39.11; -0.29): No announcement, but INVN is holding over its short-term MVA's (38.58). Volume continues to be very weak, so we continue to look for a move over 42.74 on above average volume (2.9 million), with stock and/or July $40 calls to buy (FQQ GH).

MI ($60.99; +0.12): Hit the buy point but there was no volume (209,100; average 400,000), and it pulled back for a doji. We still could see a move on a hold of support at the 50 day (60.49), but will have to have the volume. The aggressive play is 61.50 on volume of 540,000, with stock and/or June $55 calls to buy (MI FK - low open interest).

RYL ($89.33; -0.17): Great breakout Monday and Tuesday, and holding on in a lateral pattern since, with a doji today. Could get a test back toward the 10 day (85), which could set up another move.

TGH ($71.70; -1.60): Has set up nicely, but suddenly dropped back Wednesday, and today continued down to close below the 50 day (72.14). There is support at 70, but we will see if it can recover back through the 50 day.

THC ($57.75; -1.55): Tapped down close to the target (the 200 day at 56.48), but bounced back. Looking to exit remaining positions on a continued drop back although we could again see a bit of upward momentum first off of today's action.

YUM ($59.13; +0.76): Has made a nice breakout, and today continued up on good volume (959,200; average 760,000), but it pulled back from 59.95. Targeting 62, but we could see a bit of a pullback. The 10 day MVA is below at 57.14.

POST SPLITS WATCHLIST: Watching BSYS, CHBS, SONC

ACS ($48.91; +1.29): Split 2:1 effective 2-25-02. Has powered over the 50 day (48.04), triggering a stop advisory. A solid move, and we will see if it has legs.

BLL ($42.29; +0.05): Split 2:1 effective February 25. Is holding right at the 10 day MVA, which is with its upper channel trendline. Volume was much bigger today as the stock pulled back. With positions we are carefully watching for a drop back, which could be severe, as it has taken off on a very steep trendline. We are carefully watching the action here (the 18 day is at 47.21), and with weakness we will exit.

CHS ($33.76; +0.26): Split 3:2 effective 1-22-02. Has bounced, but it lost strength as it approached its high (34.95), not showing much volume. We will watch for another test of the 18 day (47.21).

HTLD ($22.53; -2.45): Split 3:2 effective 2-20-02. After the great move, was hit with a valuation downgrade and plummeted today. Annoying, but this can happen with solid breakouts when analysts do not understand stock patterns. The 50 day is just below at 21.50.

VAR ($40.38; -1.87): Split 2:1 on 1-16-02. We were wary of the low volume on the last couple of moves up, and that weakness set the stage for a drop back today. It held the 18 day at its low of 39.78, and we will watch for a hold of that support.

XRAY ($33.17; -0.84): Split 3:2 effective February 1. Had set up with a lateral movement, but fell back today, closing just over its 50 day MVA (33.01). Volume was not severe, so we will look for it to hold and set up again.
